Experts estimate that at least 3,000 Russian agents, informants and influence operatives may be active in Germany, including individuals operating through sports and cultural organisations and those maintaining contacts within the police and the Bundeswehr.
German law-enforcement authorities discovered a concealed weapons depot containing pistols and ammunition in a forest near Berlin. According to investigators, the weapons may have been intended for agents preparing acts of sabotage or attacks on German territory.
German Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described the discovery as part of a “high threat situation.” He stated that the weapons were likely intended for the preparation of attacks. The minister also did not rule out the involvement of foreign powers, although he did not explicitly name Russia.
