US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran about the catastrophic consequences of carrying out threats against him. In an exclusive interview with NewsNation, Trump said he had left ‘very clear instructions’ in case of an assassination attempt.
‘If something happens, the whole country will be wiped off the face of the earth… If something happens, they will be wiped off the face of the earth. I would hit them very hard,’ Trump said, referring to Iran as a whole.
According to the president, he has ordered a ‘very harsh’ response that will affect the entire country if Tehran’s threats are carried out. Trump stressed that ‘the whole country will be blown up’ if any plan to eliminate him is implemented.
The statement came amid reports from US intelligence agencies about continuing Iranian threats against Trump, a topic that has been raised periodically since 2020 following the elimination of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps General Qasem Soleimani. Trump used similar wording in the summer of 2024 during his election campaign.
Experts note that the current statement was made at a time of high internal tension in Iran: since the end of December 2025, mass protests have been ongoing in the country, caused by the collapse of the rial, poverty and repression. The Trump administration previously imposed 25% tariffs on countries that continue to do business with Iran and has repeatedly expressed support for the protesters.
Official Tehran has not yet publicly commented on the US president’s latest remarks.
