The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, said on Friday that he would take part in any leadership contest within the Labour Party.
his comment came as his potential rival, Andy Burnham, won the by-election in the Makerfield constituency, paving the way for a contest for the leadership of the Labour Party.
Starmer noted that, in his view, such a contest would not be in the country’s best interests, but added: “If there is a contest… then yes, I will take part; I will stand as a candidate.”
“I have said time and again that I have no intention of backing down from this,” he said.
