As part of a large-scale international operation to combat human trafficking conducted from June 8 to 12, law enforcement agencies in 59 countries across Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe detained 1,024 suspects, Interpol’s press service reported.
Operation Global Chain identified 2,070 victims of human trafficking. 465 new investigations were also initiated. Criminal networks involved in sexual exploitation, forced labor, recruitment, and forced beggary were targeted.
“This operation demonstrates the power of international cooperation in combating one of the most heinous forms of modern crime,” Interpol noted.
The agency emphasized that human trafficking remains a global threat affecting all regions of the world. Coordinated police action across multiple countries not only freed hundreds of victims but also dealt a serious blow to transnational criminal groups.
Operation “Global Chain” became yet another example of effective international law enforcement cooperation in the fight against organized crime.
