Suspect arrested in Germany for attempting to create far-right terrorist organization

German law enforcement authorities, with the support of Eurojust and in close cooperation with Romanian authorities, have arrested a suspect in an attempt to establish a far-right extremist terrorist organization. This was reported by Eurojust.

The arrest took place on June 30, 2026, in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. The suspect holds Romanian and Moldovan citizenship. According to investigators, he tried to act as the ringleader in creating a foreign terrorist group of far-right orientation.

Prosecutors state that since early 2023, the suspect had been recruiting members via messengers with the aim of unleashing a “war of terror” in Romania, contributing to the overthrow of the Romanian state, and establishing a new regime modeled on National Socialism.

Eurojust coordinated international cooperation between German and Romanian authorities, which enabled the swift arrest. This is part of broader efforts to counter right-wing extremism and terrorism across Europe.

The suspect has been charged with attempting to establish a terrorist organization. The investigation is ongoing.
