Russia obtains European technologies via India

Russian defence and security companies are importing thousands of sensitive goods from the UK and the European Union through India. This is reported by POLITICO, citing data from Strider Technologies.

Since February 2022, around 50,000 such shipments have reached Russia via India. These include electronics, industrial equipment, precision instruments, metals and advanced electrical components.

Compared with the pre-war period, supplies have risen sharply: from the UK by 180%, from Sweden by 455%, from Switzerland by 131%, and from France by 98%. Volumes of German-origin goods remain high, though they are declining.

In 2025, French carbon fibres — a material used in drones, missiles and aircraft — reached a Russian company belonging to the military-industrial complex. The firm supplies several sanctioned enterprises.

Experts note that India has become an important channel for circumventing sanctions. New trade agreements between Britain, the EU and India could further complicate control over such supplies.
