Ukrainian defence company Uforce has presented a new unmanned surface vessel, the MV7, in the United Kingdom. Developed based on the Ukrainian Magura unmanned platform with the involvement of British engineers associated with Formula 1 technologies, the vessel is designed to enhance the operational capabilities of the Royal Navy.
The MV7 is a next-generation modular platform optimised for open-ocean operations. It incorporates a redesigned hull engineered for survivability in Sea State 6 conditions, full autonomy, and interoperability with NATO standards. According to the company, the vessel measures approximately 7.8 metres in length, achieves a maximum speed of around 39 knots, offers a range of approximately 800 nautical miles, and can carry a payload of up to 650 kg (exceeding 1,000 kg in a distributed configuration).
The Magura family of systems has demonstrated proven effectiveness in combat operations. Ukrainian unmanned surface vessels have participated in hundreds of missions, ranging from strikes against naval targets to reconnaissance, logistical support, and engagement of aerial threats. Uforce notes that these platforms have contributed to constraining the activities of the Russian Black Sea Fleet at a comparatively modest cost.
The unveiling of the MV7 in Britain underscores the expanding collaboration between Ukrainian developers and Western partners. Uforce, a company of Ukrainian origin registered in London, continues to expand its production capacity beyond Ukraine, including through partnerships in Europe and the United States. The new vessel can conduct long-range strike missions as well as intercepting potential threats in British waters.
Analysts observe that the adaptation of combat-proven Ukrainian technologies to meet the requirements of the Royal Navy has the potential to substantially strengthen NATO’s maritime capabilities.
