Company executives were warned about growing threats from the Kremlin during a roundtable attended by senior officials and CEOs.
The newspaper’s source did not name those present, but they were believed to include representatives of companies supplying Ukraine with drones and weapons.
The meeting, organized by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, came after Russian assassination plots targeting executives at two German defense companies were foiled.
One of them was Armin Papperger, CEO of Rheinmetall, which is carrying out a 4.2 billion-pound contract to supply artillery shells to Ukrainian forces.
“Defense company executives in the UK and Europe are starting to think about their own security and the security of their facilities,” the newspaper quoted Elisabeth Braw, a security expert at the Atlantic Council think tank, as saying.
On Aug. 27, Russia threatened that it could attack British military targets in Ukraine and “beyond its borders” in response to Ukrainian strikes using British weapons.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said London “will not be able to avoid responsibility” for providing Ukraine with long-range Storm Shadow missiles and technology to manufacture them.
