Almost 80% of Poles believe that Warsaw should help Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia if those countries come under Russian aggression. That is according to a poll by the IBRiS institute conducted for Radio ZET.
Asked “If Russia launched military aggression, should Poland help Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia?”, 77.8% of respondents answered yes. Of those, 47.5% said “definitely yes” and 30.3% said “rather yes.” Some 16.1% were opposed (9.8% “rather no,” 6.3% “definitely no”). Another 6.1% were undecided.
Researchers note a high level of solidarity among Poles with their Baltic NATO allies. Support for assistance remains high both among supporters of the ruling coalition (83%) and among opposition voters (about 86%). Respondents who describe themselves as centrists are the most consistent in backing help — 92%.
The poll reflects a durable perception on NATO’s eastern flank of a shared threat from Russia and a willingness to act under alliance obligations.
