The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Moldova has released data on airspace violations in October 2026. According to the ministry, drones violated Moldova’s airspace 19 times during the month amid Russian attacks on Ukraine. Six of the drones fell and exploded on the ground.
The incidents were recorded in the districts of Căușeni, Ștefan Vodă, Anenii Noi, Hîncești, Ocnița, Dondușeni, Telenești, Călărași, Ungheni and Edineț, as well as in four localities on the left bank of the Dniester (in the Transnistrian region). Five explosions occurred on 3 October — on the outskirts of Căușeni and in the villages of Constantinovca (Căușeni district), Crocmaz (Ștefan Vodă district), Puhăceni (Anenii Noi district) and Dubovca (Hîncești district). Another drone exploded on 16 October near the village of Scăieni in Dondușeni district.
Since the beginning of 2026, Moldova has recorded a total of 67 airspace violations. Since 2022, the overall number of registered incidents has reached 104.
The Ministry of Defence stressed: “Given the growing air threats, developing modern capabilities for monitoring, detecting and neutralising such threats is an urgent necessity for national defence.” The ministry once again urged citizens to immediately report any discovery of drones or their fragments by calling 112.
The violations occurred against the backdrop of ongoing Russian strikes on Ukraine, which continued throughout October and were accompanied by destruction and civilian casualties.
