A defense industry employee detained in Poland on suspicion of espionage

Polish security services have detained a man who worked at enterprises belonging to the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) on suspicion of spying for a foreign state. This was announced by Poland’s Minister of Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

According to the investigation, the Polish national detained last week was employed at facilities within PGZ — one of the key manufacturers of components for artillery shells and missile munitions. These enterprises play an important role in supplying weapons to Ukraine and strengthening the defense capabilities of Poland and NATO.

“This is a serious case. An employee of one of PGZ’s enterprises has been detained on suspicion of espionage for a foreign state,” the defense minister said.

The Internal Security Agency (ABW) is conducting the investigation. A court has already authorized the suspect’s detention for three months. According to sources, the man is suspected of passing sensitive information related to ammunition production.

In recent years, Poland has recorded an increase in foreign espionage attempts, primarily from Russia and Belarus. Earlier in 2026, several individuals suspected of working for Russian intelligence services were detained, including Ministry of Defense employees and civilians.

PGZ Group has so far refrained from official comment, stating only that it is closely cooperating with investigators. The defense conglomerate produces a wide range of products, from ammunition and artillery systems to armored vehicles.
