A new radical group has emerged in Europe, targeting synagogues

A new radical Islamist group has emerged in Europe, claiming responsibility for a series of attacks on Jewish institutions. The organization, called Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyya, emerged just this week and has already claimed responsibility for several attacks.

According to media reports and statements from Jewish organizations, the group claimed responsibility for the following incidents in March 2026:

March 9 — A powerful explosion near a synagogue in Liège, Belgium. The explosive device detonated around 4:00 a.m., causing serious damage to the building, but fortunately, no one was injured. The city’s mayor called the incident “a clearly anti-Semitic act.”

March 13 — Arson at a synagogue in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Unknown individuals attempted to start a fire in the city center overnight. Police arrested four suspects.

March 13-14 — An explosion near a Jewish school in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The incident occurred on Zeelandstraat; police are investigating it as a targeted attack.

The group distributes short videos featuring explosions and arson, with their logo and name appearing on them. Counterterrorism experts believe the organization may be Shiite in orientation and linked to a network of Iranian proxy structures. The emergence of this group is linked to the escalation of the war in the Middle East and calls for revenge for Israeli and US actions against Iran.

European Jewish communities and the World Jewish Congress are expressing extreme alarm: three attacks on Jewish sites in different countries in one week. Community leaders are demanding immediate increased security for synagogues, schools, and cultural centers.

While no government has officially confirmed the group’s existence as a sustainable structure, repeated statements and a similar pattern of attacks raise concerns about a possible coordinated campaign. Police in Belgium and the Netherlands, and EU intelligence agencies are actively studying the videos and the channels through which the statements are being distributed.
