British police arrest 12 people on suspicion of far-right terrorism

British police have detained 12 individuals as part of an investigation linked to a potential terrorist threat against a major Islamic event, law enforcement authorities reported.

According to police, the case is being treated as being related to far-right terrorism. The investigation concerns a potential threat to an event held at Shrubland Hall estate in Suffolk from 9 to 12 July.

Due to the information received about a possible danger, Suffolk Police recommended that the organizers end the event earlier than planned. As a result, the event was closed on 12 July, one day ahead of schedule.

Police confirmed that the detained individuals are in custody. Searches and other investigative actions are currently underway. Law enforcement stated that the threat was taken seriously, and swift measures helped prevent a potential incident.

Representatives of Muslim communities in the UK expressed gratitude to the police for their rapid response and protection of event participants.

This is not the first case in recent years in which far-right extremists in Britain have planned attacks on Muslim events and venues. UK authorities have repeatedly highlighted the growing threat from right-wing extremist groups.

The investigation is ongoing. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
