ESA opens first centre in Central and Eastern Europe in Warsaw

The European Space Agency (ESA) has announced the opening of a new centre in the Polish capital. It will become the first ESA representation in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

The new centre in Warsaw aims to strengthen the development of space technologies in the region, expand the participation of local companies and research institutions in European space programmes, and promote international cooperation.

According to ESA, the centre will focus on:

Supporting Polish and regional enterprises in the space sector;

Developing scientific research and innovation;

Coordinating educational and youth programmes;

Strengthening cooperation between Central and Eastern European countries and the main ESA member states.

The opening of the representation in Warsaw highlights Poland’s growing role in the European space programme. In recent years, Warsaw has significantly increased its contribution to the ESA budget and has been actively developing its national space industry.

The new centre will become an important platform for integrating the countries of the region into pan-European projects, including Earth observation, satellite communications, navigation, and space exploration. It is expected to provide an additional boost to the development of high-tech sectors of the economy in Central and Eastern Europe.
