The first meeting of the newly established EU–Ukraine Drone Alliance will take place in the EU capital this week. The format is designed to accelerate joint production and development of unmanned systems, as well as counter-UAV capabilities, both for Ukraine’s defence and to strengthen Europe’s own defence posture.
Nineteen leading European and Ukrainian defence companies working in drone technology, sensors, artificial intelligence and counter-drone systems have been invited. From the EU side, participants are expected to include ORQA, Indra Group, Fincantieri, WB Electronics/WB Group, Destinus, Delair, RSI Europe, TERMA A/S and Quantum Systems. Ukraine will be represented by Skyfall Industries, Greentech Harvest, Tencore, Deviro, Vyriy Industry, ATHLON AVIA, TAF Industries, UFORCE and F-Drones.
The meeting will be attended by EU Defence Commissioner Andrius Kubilius. According to sources, it will be a working session: participants will take stock of current cooperation, agree a timetable for next steps and discuss the first practical measures. The European side, in particular, intends to study how Ukraine has built its ecosystem of cooperation between the government and the drone industry.
The Alliance was officially launched in July 2026 in Kyiv at the third EU–Ukraine Defence Industry Forum, following the signing of a “drone deal” between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The idea of combining Europe’s industrial capacity with Ukraine’s combat experience was first put forward in von der Leyen’s State of the Union address last year.
The initiative aims not only to increase drone deliveries to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but also to establish sustainable joint production, strengthen supply chains and integrate Ukrainian manufacturers into the European defence ecosystem. The European Commission has already allocated €1 billion to Ukraine for drone procurement under a support loan.
