Keir Starmer demands an apology from Sir Jim Ratcliffe for his words about the “colonization” of Britain by migrants

Prime Minister of Great Britain Keir Starmer sharply condemned the statements of billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of the Manchester United football club, and demanded a public apology from him.

The reason was Ratcliffe’s recent interview with the Sky News channel, in which the businessman stated that Great Britain was “colonized by immigrants” who allegedly “suck the country’s resources.” He also claimed that the country’s population grew from 58 million in 2020 to 70 million in 2026 due to the influx of migrants and called the prime minister “too good a man” to make tough decisions on the economy and migration.

In response, Kyr Starmer published a harsh statement on the X social network: “It’s insulting and wrong. Great Britain is a proud, tolerant and diverse country. Jim Ratcliffe owes an apology.”

A representative of Downing Street, 10, confirmed the prime minister’s position, noted that similar statements “play into the hands of those who want to divide our society”, and called on Ratcliffe to “immediately” apologize.

Ratcliffe’s words have already caused a wide resonance: a number of Manchester United fan groups, including the Muslim community of fans, accused the businessman of inciting prejudice and deepening the split in society.

So far, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has not publicly responded to the Prime Minister’s demand.
