In his traditional King’s Speech at the opening of the new parliamentary session, King Charles III of the United Kingdom confirmed that the United Kingdom will continue to support Ukraine in its fight for freedom. The text of the address has been published on the British government’s official website.
“In this changing world, the government will continue to pursue a foreign policy based on a sober assessment of national interests. It will continue to offer unwavering support to the courageous people of Ukraine, who are fighting on the front line of freedom,” the King said.
According to the monarch, the British government plans to improve relations with its European partners as an important step towards strengthening European security. To this end, it plans to introduce a special European Partnership Bill aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties with the EU.
Furthermore, the UK advocates for a lasting peace in the Middle East and supports a two-state solution (the creation of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel). The King noted that the conflict in the Middle East is one of the most striking examples of growing global instability.
