The UK government has announced an additional £25 million to strengthen security measures for the country’s Jewish communities.
Combined with previously planned funding, the total amount allocated for this purpose in the current year will reach £58 million. As the government stated, this is the largest investment in UK history aimed at protecting Jewish communities.
The funds will be directed toward:
significantly increasing police presence and patrols in areas where Jewish communities reside;
providing security for synagogues, Jewish schools, and community centres;
deploying additional security specialists within communities;
increasing the number of plain-clothes police officers for more effective and discreet operations.
The decision comes amid a persistently high threat of antisemitic incidents and attacks across the country. The government emphasised that the safety of Jewish citizens is a priority and pledged that all necessary measures will be taken to protect communities from hate crimes.
