Denmark’s domestic intelligence service PET said Russian security services are actively preparing sabotage operations on Danish territory. Among the main targets are defense-industry companies tied to military support for Ukraine.
Emil Græsholm, PET’s head of counterintelligence, told the newspaper Berlingske that this is no longer a general threat assessment but concrete planning and preparation. That is why the service decided to issue a public warning.
“The selection of targets and the preparations are so specific that we believe it is necessary to go public with the message that this is a threat that must be taken seriously,” Græsholm said.
According to PET, Russian services are planning and already carrying out sabotage against defense companies in Europe. Danish firms have also become targets of such preparations. Arson is among the methods mentioned. Ukrainian defense manufacturers that operate or plan production in Denmark are cited separately.
PET assesses the aim as twofold: to disrupt specific deliveries for Ukraine’s armed forces and to sow fear so that Denmark scales back support for Kyiv and does not expand its own defense capabilities.
The service also reports attempts to recruit ordinary Danes, often via social media and online platforms. People are asked to photograph or film companies, or to check access routes and security measures. Many do not realize they are working for Russian intelligence. PET urges residents to treat such requests with suspicion and calls on defense-sector companies to tighten security.
PET expects the threat to grow in scale and complexity. Denmark is one of the active suppliers of military aid to Ukraine, and that, the service says, makes facilities linked to that assistance a priority target.
