A major political scandal is brewing in Hungary ahead of the 2026 parliamentary elections. Magyar Péter, the leader of the opposition Tisza party, whom most opinion polls call Viktor Orbán’s main and most dangerous rival, made a sensational statement.
Last night, Magyar Péter openly accused the Prime Minister and the intelligence agencies of preparing to release a compromising intimate video featuring him for the purpose of political destruction.
“They’re planning to release a video of me having sex with my girlfriend. The footage was allegedly made by the intelligence agencies, possibly edited, or created using artificial intelligence. The goal is clear: to disgrace me as much as possible and destroy my reputation before the elections,” Magyar wrote.
The politician immediately added: “I’m 45 years old. I have a normal sex life. With an adult woman. There’s nothing illegal on the recording. I have nothing to be ashamed of. The ones who should be ashamed are those who use secret cameras and blackmail against political opponents.”
The Tisza party has been publicly stating for several months that Magyar, and his inner circle are systematically subject to pressure: threats, surveillance, and attempts to blackmail them with incriminating sexual material. Now, according to the opposition leader, the authorities have switched to the “Russian scenario”—the public dissemination of intimate, incriminating information.
There has been no official response from the government or Fidesz yet. However, in recent months, pro-government media outlets and accounts have repeatedly published AI-edited videos and memes portraying Magyar in a derogatory light, including as a “Brussels agent” or a “Soros puppet.”
