The Italian Prime Minister directly accused Russia of creating total chaos in the world

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni issued a strong statement directly linking the current global turmoil to Russia’s actions. According to her, the “total chaos in the world” is a direct consequence of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“The chaos in the world is not an accident or a coincidence of isolated crises. It is a direct consequence of Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, cynically violating the foundations of international law and the sovereignty of an independent country,” Meloni stated during a speech on the current geopolitical situation.

The Italian Prime Minister emphasized that the aggression against Ukraine has triggered a chain reaction:

an explosive situation in the Middle East;

the buildup of Iran’s nuclear arsenal;

the appearance of drones over Cyprus, and other incidents.

“The Kremlin has sent a signal to the entire world that the rules no longer apply. When a permanent member of the UN Security Council tramples on the Charter and international law, it destroys the entire global security system,” she added.

Meloni specifically noted the disjointed actions of Western allies and called for unity: “Until we stop the root cause of this chaos—the war in Ukraine—new outbreaks will erupt everywhere. The only way to restore stability is to end Russian aggression and restore a just peace.”

Meloni’s statement has already sparked a strong reaction in European capitals, and, according to preliminary reports, representatives of the European Commission and NATO are expected to comment on it in the coming days.

Previously, the Italian prime minister has repeatedly emphasized that support for Ukraine remains Italy’s key foreign policy and security priority.
