Since the 2024 general election, more than 80,000 people have been deported from the United Kingdom, marking the highest figure since 2016.
According to the UK Home Office, the number of deportations has increased by 52% compared with the previous two years. Those deported included foreign offenders, immigration law violators and individuals residing in the UK illegally.
Of the total, 24,471 deportations were related to asylum procedures, 6,103 involved migrants who had arrived in the UK by small boats, and 11,733 concerned foreign offenders.
UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood described the figures as a clear warning to those who violate British law. She stressed that the UK would continue to welcome people who enter the country legally, while those who enter illegally or break the law would be returned to their countries of origin.
Mahmood also announced that the government is preparing new legislation aimed at accelerating the removal of individuals who are residing in the UK unlawfully.
