Preparations for the meeting of the Slovak-Russian intergovernmental Commission

Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár and Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov discussed preparations for a meeting of the Slovak-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

“Today, we discussed with the Russian side the organisational arrangements related to preparations for the meeting of the intergovernmental commission, which is planned to take place in autumn 2026,” TASR quoted Blanár, who serves as co-chair of the commission on the Slovak side, as saying.

According to the report, the preparations for the forthcoming meeting were discussed via videoconference. Falkov serves as co-chair of the commission on the Russian side.

The resumption of the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Slovak Republic and the Russian Federation, which had been suspended following 24 February 2022, was agreed in 2025 by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
