France summons Russian ambassador over large-scale FSB cyber campaign Against European countries

The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has announced its intention to summon the Russian ambassador in Paris over a large-scale cyber campaign that, according to Paris, Russia is conducting against approximately ten European states.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that France strongly condemns the “large-scale cyber campaign aimed at sabotage and espionage,” organized by Russian intelligence services. According to him, the operation was carried out by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB).

“In the coming days, we will summon the Russian ambassador to France. In addition, France will impose sanctions on nine individuals and four organizations involved in this campaign,” the minister emphasized.

According to the French side, the cyberattacks targeted government institutions, critical infrastructure, and private companies in several European countries. The objectives were intelligence gathering and carrying out sabotage operations.
