Hamas’ extensive cell network uncovered in Europe

European security services, in close cooperation with Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, have carried out a series of operations that exposed and partially dismantled the infrastructure of Hamas terrorist cells across several EU countries. This was reported by sources in European law enforcement agencies and Israeli officials.

According to Mossad data, in recent years Hamas has been actively building covert operational networks in Europe. The cells were engaged in stockpiling weapons, preparing attacks, and coordinating actions on orders from Qatar and possibly Turkey. During the operations, pistols, explosives, and other materials intended for strikes against Jewish and Israeli targets were seized.

Key Incidents

Austria and Germany: In November 2025, suspects were arrested in Vienna and other cities, including the son of a senior Hamas official, Bassem Naim. Weapons and explosives caches were discovered in his possession. The operation was carried out with the support of European partners.

Greece and Cyprus: In June 2026, Greek authorities detained a Palestinian linked to a Hamas cell that was preparing attacks on Israeli targets in Crete. The network included at least seven members, some of whom were based in Cyprus. One of the detainees had undergone training in Malaysia.

Other Countries: Similar cells and weapons caches were previously uncovered in Denmark, the Netherlands, and Germany. German prosecutors confirmed plans to attack Jewish institutions.

Mossad emphasizes that these networks operated under direct orders from Hamas leadership and posed a real threat to civilians in Europe. “Hamas is not just Israel’s problem — it is a global threat,” Israeli intelligence noted.
