London Police arrest suspect in attacks on Jewish community

London’s Metropolitan Police have announced the arrest of a 37-year-old man suspected of involvement in a series of attacks on sites associated with the Jewish community in the north-west of the British capital.

The man was arrested on 26 April in the Barnstaple area of Devon by officers from the Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) unit. He was detained on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts and transferred to a London police station for further questioning.

The investigation is being led by the Metropolitan Police’s counter-terrorism unit as part of a case involving multiple attacks on Jewish sites in north-west London, as well as related incidents — including an attack on a Persian-language media organisation and the discovery of jars containing a non-hazardous substance in Kensington Gardens.

According to sources, this is the 26th person arrested in the past month in connection with this investigation. The incidents under examination include arson attacks and other assaults on Jewish community properties. Police are continuing to investigate the arson of four ambulances belonging to the Jewish emergency service Hatzola in the Golders Green area on 23 March 2026. In that attack, which is being investigated as an antisemitic hate crime, the vehicles were destroyed, though no one was injured.

Police have not yet disclosed further details about the suspect’s identity or his alleged role in specific incidents. The investigation is ongoing.
