The British intelligence service MI6 has commented publicly for the first time on the use of doubles by Russian President Vladimir Putin, sharing methods for identifying the real Kremlin leader.
According to sources in the intelligence community, the existence of several people acting on behalf of Putin at public events has long been the subject of analysis by Western intelligence agencies.
MI6 experts have identified several distinctive features that make it possible to identify the original:
Physiological characteristics. The real Putin has a specific gait associated with his past in the KGB and his judo training. One arm moves less than the other when walking — the result of training to quickly draw a weapon.
Micro-expressions. Unique facial expressions, especially in moments of tension or decision-making, are almost impossible to imitate.
Speech characteristics. Characteristic intonations, pauses, and word choice, especially when discussing certain topics from his personal history or the Soviet period.
The practice of using body doubles by heads of state is not new and has been used by various leaders to ensure security. In the case of Russia, according to analysts, this is due to increased security measures amid the ongoing conflict.
British intelligence officials emphasized that this information is intended for professional use and should not provoke the spread of conspiracy theories among the general public.
