Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW) has detained three Polish citizens suspected of collaborating with Russian security services. This was announced by Tomasz Siemoniak, Minister-Coordinator for Security Services of the Republic of Poland.
“Officers of the Internal Security Agency, acting on the instructions of the Podlasie Division of the National Prosecutor’s Office, have detained three people suspected of spying for Russia,” Semoniak wrote on X.
The detainees are men aged between 48 and 62, all of whom are Polish citizens. They are accused of conducting intelligence activities, in particular gathering information on NATO military infrastructure on Polish territory, as well as producing and disseminating propaganda and disinformation materials.
According to the Polish authorities, the suspects were acting in the interests of Russian intelligence. The investigation is ongoing.
This is the latest arrest in Poland in cases linked to Russian espionage and sabotage activities against the backdrop of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. Previously, Polish security services have repeatedly reported the exposure of networks engaged in the reconnaissance of critical infrastructure, propaganda and the preparation of sabotage operations.
